
Summary
Set in 1998 San Fernando Valley, Mijo/a follows 12-year-old Amanda, who navigates the challenges of adolescence while caring for her visually impaired, diabetic father, Ricardo. With her mother working and her teen brother contributing financially, Amanda takes on household responsibilities, including guiding her father through daily tasks and medical appointments.
As Ricardo's health deteriorates due to his neglect of diabetic care, tensions rise within the family, especially as Amanda longs for independence. After a medical emergency and the revelation of their home’s impending foreclosure, Amanda faces the harsh reality of her father's irreversible condition.
